Our experienced midwives are here for you 24/7. We work in two dedicated teams (Oker and Mint), which allows us to build a meaningful relationship with you. You’ll get to know a small, consistent team of midwives who will support you throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period – personal and small-scale care at its best.

We believe that building a personal connection with your midwife in Utrecht is essential. That’s why De Geboortezaak consists of several small-scale birth practices. This approach leads to better pregnancy outcomes and higher satisfaction among expecting families. In our Utrecht-Leidsche Rijn location, our midwives work in two teams to provide more personalized support throughout your pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum period.
Pregnancy is a special time full of change – and we’re here for more than just your check-ups. We truly take the time to get to know you and your partner. Even during ultrasounds, we focus on creating a calm, warm experience for you and your baby. Throughout your pregnancy journey, our Utrecht midwives are by your side, day and night.

Koen Deurloo - Gynaecologist Diakonessenhuis
My name is Koen Deurloo, and I am the in-house gynaecologist for midwifery practice De Geboortezaak in Utrecht-Leidsche Rijn. I regularly consult with the midwives about the best care for pregnant women who also need my expertise. For me, making decisions together with the pregnant woman, putting her in charge and discussing every detail is extremely important. We also have consultations where I see pregnant women together with their own midwives. Koen is the first gynaecologist in the Netherlands to perform a cesarean section assisted by the mother. He regularly writes for magazines for pregnant women and young parents.
Franyke Banga - Gynaecologist St. Antonius Hospital
I am the in-house gynaecologist for midwifery practice De Geboortezaak in Utrecht-Leidsche Rijn. I have been working as a gynaecologist since 2009 and at the St. Antonius Hospital since 2016 with a specialisation in obstetric care. I work together with the midwives of De Geboortezaak for pregnant women who would like or need to see a gynaecologist during their pregnancy. I visit the midwifery practice to consult with the midwives and to see the pregnant women during a consult with their own midwife.
Rian van Arkel - Physiotherapist
My name is Rian, and I work as a pelvic physiotherapist at the same location as the midwives. I guide pregnant women and women who have just given birth in individual consults as well as ZwangerFIT (PregnantFIT) classes. You might also know me from the CenteringPregnancy meetings. I am usually there during the second class to inform you about the changes in your pelvis during the pregnancy.
Petrouschka Swinkels - Psychologist
I am a healthcare psychologist and EMDR Europe practitioner, and I have my own practice for 16 years. I am specialized in counselling pregnant women or women who have just given birth who suffer from anxiety, trauma or depression. I am involved, transparent and open, and I find humour during my treatments very important.
An Berben - Chiropractor
After my medical education, I went to study chiropractic and specialised in treating pregnant women and their babies. The hormones that prepare the body for labour also make the back and pelvis more flexible, which can lead to physical problems. Special gentle techniques are used to treat any symptoms in all phases of the pregnancy. The consults take place at my own practice in Leidsche Rijn.
Fleur de Miranda - Sexual Health Consultant
Next to working as an assistant at De Geboortezaak, I also have my own practice as a sexual health consultant, in which I help couples with questions about their sexual health. Especially, as you will experience sexual changes during the pregnancy, it would be good to investigate together with your partner what your needs are and those of your partner. I love to use my expertise to make sexual pleasure possible (again).
Gideanne Bröcheler - Women's coach & doula
After working as a midwife for 25 years, I now guide women during or after their pregnancy. I can help you with questions about motherhood or childbirth, because genuine attention can help you. I am also a doula and can guide you during labour, whilst working together with your midwife.

Extra listening to baby's heart
If you want to listen extra to your baby's heartbeat (between 13-22 weeks), you can visit us extra on Thursday evenings at 08 pm. Please come on time, we will leave when the waitingroom is empty. You can just step in and don't need to make an appointment.
Centering Pregnancy in English
Especially for our English speaking pregnant women, we organize Centering meetings in English. Please contact us if you are interested. If you cannot participate, it is also possible to attend online informmation evenings avbout giving birth and the postnatal period.
Online information evenings
For our English speaking clients, we organize online information evenings about the pregnancy on March 23rd and May 11th. About giving birth on May 18th. About the postnatal period on March 16th and June 1st. We will start at 19.30h. You are most welcome!!
Extra location in Rijnvliet/Strijkviertel
If you live near Rijnvliet/Strijkviertel you are welcome in our extra location. At Friday's we are also doing check-ups on the beautiful space of yogapoint. Wecome!
